Abstract
For a completely polarised wave, a simple method is proposed for obtai ning the characteristic polarisation states, in the form of the Stokes vector, showing that the CO-POL nulls are the most fundamental charac teristic polarisation states, and that the other states can easily be obtained from the expressions of the CO-POL nulls.
