Cs. Browning et al., SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERIZATION AND REACTIVITY OF BIS(DIPHENYLPHOSPHINO)AMINE NICKEL-COMPLEXES, Inorganica Chimica Acta, 271(1-2), 1998, pp. 112-118
The binuclear Ni(0) complexes [Ni-2(mu-CO)(CO)(2)(mu-L-2)(2) (3), wher
e L-2 is the bridging diphosphine ligand bis(diphenylphosphino)amine (
1H) or bis(diphenylphosphino)methylamine (1Me), have been prepared by
the reaction of [Ni(CO)(4)] and L-2. The bridging CO ligands in comple
xes 3 are reversibly displaced by SO2 yielding [Ni-2(mu-SO2) (CO)(2)(m
u-L-2)(2)] (4) The single crystal X-ray structure of the binuclear com
plex, [Ni-2(mu-SO2)(CO)(2)(mu-(PPh2)(2)NH)(2)] (4H), is presented. [Ni
-2(mu-SO2)(CO)(2)(mu-(Ph2P)(2)NH)(2)].(C8H10) crystallizes in the mono
clinic space group C-2/c, Z= 4 with lattice parameters a = 27.227(5),
b = 9.543(2), c = 22.979(4) Angstrom and beta = 113.26(3)degrees. Reac
tion of the complexes 5 with X-2, where X = Cl or I, ultimately gives
[NiX2L2] (5), although intermediates in the reactions are observed. P-
31 NMR and mass spectral data for the complexes are reported. Attempts
to react the binuclear complexes Cf with several other ligands were u
nsuccessful. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science S.A.
