Ba. Masri et al., THE CLASSIFICATION AND RADIOGRAPHIC EVALUATION OF BONE LOSS IN REVISION HIP-ARTHROPLASTY, The Orthopedic clinics of North America, 29(2), 1998, pp. 219
Many classification systems have been described over the past ten year
s for bone loss which is found in association with the failed hip arth
roplasty. Most are based on assessments of bone stock which are made i
ntraoperatively. Good quality plain radiography is the most useful pre
operative investigation and provides important information regarding t
he residual bone stock. There is a need for critical appraisal of the
validity of classification systems currently in use and the developmen
t of a consensus system which will permit comparison between the publi
shed results of different techniques.
