Abstract
The sorption-desorption behavior of Linear Alkylbenzene Sulphonate (LA S) on marine sediments from three different areas of the Thermaikos Gu lf in Northern Greece was studied. The sorption of LAS on sediments is satisfactorily described by the Freundlich Equation. Positive correla tion exists between the sorption of LAS and the organic matter. Unlike sorption (1/n = 1), the desorption isotherms were linear (1/n = 1) fo r all three types of sediments. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd.
