Abstract
The goal of Inertial Fusion Energy (IFE) development is to prove that
fusion energy can be available as electric power source. Recent progre
ss of laser fusion research and relevant technologies enable us to exa
mine technical and economical feasibility, and to plan the realistic s
trategy to the commercial power plant. The most important key issue fo
r IFE is the driver technology. The development of the laser fusion dr
iver is opening new industrial technologies based on the photon proces
ses and is attracting attention in wide industrial fields.
