Abstract
Co(salen) analogue complexes with two pendant basic pyridine units, bo und to the salen framework by spacer units are synthesized and charact erized by cyclic voltammetry and UV/vis spectroscopy in pyridine, N,N- dimethylformamide, and dichloromethane. The results show that in the C o-III-complexes in solution exchange of the axially bound solvent mole cules vs. pendant pyridine units is possible, while in the oxidation s tate Co-II solvent molecules detach the ''intramolecular'' bases. The overall reaction (electron transfer Co(II)reversible arrow Co-III liga nd exchange) is formulated as ''intramolecular ladder scheme''.
