SYNTHESIS, MAGNETIC AND SPECTRAL STUDIES OF SOME MIXED-LIGAND DERIVATIVES OF BIS (ACETOACETANILIDO)-NICKEL(II), BIS TO (O-ACETOACETANISIDIDO)-NICKEL(II) AND BIS (O-ACETOACETOTOLUIDIDO)-NICKEL(II) WITH SOME HETEROCYCLIC NITROGEN DONORS INVOLVING BENZIMIDAZOLE NUCLEUS

Some new mixed-ligand complexes of Ni(II) of the composition (Ni (L-L) (2) (L)(2)), where (L-L)H= acetoacetanilide (aaaH), o-acetoacetanisidi de (aaansH) or o-acetoacetotoluidide(aatdH), and L= benazimidazole or 2-methylbenzimidazole have been synthesized, The metal complexes which have been characterised by analytical data, molar conductances, magne tic measurements, IR and electronic spectral studies, contain Ni(II) i n a low-spin d(8) configuration. A trans-octahedral structure has been proposed for these complexes.
