Abstract
Improvement on the nonreflective locating accuracy is still a problem for short pulse duration of an OTDR. When the reflected term is consid ered, with the novel judgment function proposed in this letter, such p roblems can be solved. The locating precision could not exceed 1 m for OTDR pulse duration of 100 ns and 0.4 m for 50 ns.
