The influence of substituents and temperature on the thermal cyclisati on of 3-acetoxy-2-methylene-3-(2-pyridyl)propanoic esters and analogue s has been explored using H-1 NMR spectroscopy, and mechanistic propos als for the formation of the resulting indolizines art presented.
