Abstract
Pecan weevil, Curculio caryae, (Hem) is a serious pest of pecan and hi ckory in southern nut producing regions of the United States. Pecan we evil is known to infest almost all hickory species and has been report ed on Persian walnut in Canada. Experiments were conducted using a Har dee olfactometer, three species of Carya and one species of Juglans. D ata indicated that when given a choice, pecan or bitternut hickory is the preferred host of this insect. Shellbark hickory was less preferre d, and black walnut was not attractive to pecan weevil in any of the p airwise comparisons.
