Tp. Cheng et Lf. Li, WHY THE NAIVE QUARK-MODEL CAN YIELD A GOOD ACCOUNT OF THE BARYON MAGNETIC-MOMENTS, Physical review letters, 80(13), 1998, pp. 2789-2792
The chiral quark model suggests that the baryon quark sea is negativel
y polarized. This modifies the spin structure as given by the naive qu
ark model and agrees with experimental data. However, for the magnetic
moments, there is significant cancellation between the contributions
from this sea spin polarization and the orbital angular momentum so th
at effectively the moments are given by the valence constituent quarks
alone, as in the naive quark model.
