E. Straumann et al., RECURRENT MYOCARDIAL-INFARCTION CAUSED BY A GIANT CORONARY ANEURYSM, International journal of cardiology, 63(3), 1998, pp. 305-307
We report on a patient with a giant aneurysm arising from the right co
ronary artery leading to infarction due to a steal phenomenon. Emergen
cy coronary angiography was performed. The orifice of the aneurysm was
occluded by balloon catheter restoring blood flow and resolving ische
mia. Aneurysmectomy was done subsequently. The patient recovered very
soon, and the following course was uneventful. This case illustrates t
hat occasionally causes other than usual coronary atherosclerosis may
lead to acute coronary syndromes. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ireland Lt
