The complexes Cu(2)L(2) circle CH3COO, Mn(2)L(2) circle CH3COO. Ni(2)L
(2) and Co(2)L(2), where L is 2-[(2-pyrrolylmethylene)amino]phenol (PY
MAP), were synthesized and characterized by IR, UV/VIS and MS spectrom
etry and by elemental analysis. It has been found that PYMAP behaves a
s a tridentate dianion or as bidentate monoanion and tridentate dianio
n at the same time, which therefore forms various types of complexes.
The Ni(II)- and Co(II)-PYMAP complexes form neutral chelates of M(2)L(
2) type, while the Mn(II)- and Cu(II)-PYMAP complexes have the same M(
2)L(2) stoichiometry but with acetate in the inner coordination sphere
