ELECTROCARBOXYLATION OF ALPHA,OMEGA-DIHALOPERFLUOROALKANES AND OF PERFLUOROALKYLHALIDES IN A NEAR-CRITICAL AND SUPERCRITICAL CO2-METHANOL MEDIUM

The electrocatalytical carboxylations of some perfluoroalkylhalides an d alpha,omega-dihaloperfluoroalkanes on copper and stainless steel ele ctrodes in near-and supercritical CO2-methanol mixtures have been inve stigated, The main products and intermediates were determined, It was shown that the differences in the composition of products in these two cases indicate quite different catalytic activities of copper and sta inless steel electrodes with regard to the electroreduction reactions of the intermediates and quite different adsorptions of these intermed iates on the surfaces of the electrodes.
