In our phytochemical investigation of triterpenoids from the genus Eup
horbia esula and E. petiolata, twelve compounds have been isolated and
identified as a new triterpene, 23,25-O-isopropylidene-cycloartanol 1
and a new naturally occurring acylglucosylsterol, osterol-3-O-(6'-lin
olenoyl)-beta-D-glucopyranoside 2, together with ten known compounds,
3 beta-hydroxyfriedal-7-ene 3, cycloart-23-ene-3 beta,25-diol 4, cyclo
artan-24,25-epoxy-3 beta-ol 5, beta-sitosterol 6, beta-daucosterol 7,
cycloartenol 8, cycloartan-3 beta,24 xi,25-triol 9, Ingenol-3,5,20-tri
acetate 10, oleanic acid 11, and glyceryl Linolenate 12 on the basis o
f spectroscopic methods and chemical evidences.
