Abstract
Reactions of cyclopropyl compounds 1 with cyanoacetamide in the presen ce of sodium isopropoxide in refluxing isopropanol afford the novel py ridones 2. Similarly, when compounds 1 are reacted with hydrazine hydr ate in refluxing ethanol, novel 5(3)-methylthio-3(5)-cyclopropylpyrazo les 3 are obtained in high yields.
