Sr. Ali et al., CHARACTERIZATION OF SILICONE BREAST IMPLANT BIOPSIES BY FOURIER-TRANSFORM INFRARED MAPPING, Cellular and molecular biology, 44(1), 1998, pp. 75-80
Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectral mapping was used to study
polymers in human tissue associated with silicone breast implants. Bio
materials such as polyesters, polyurethanes and silicone were identifi
ed by FT-IR spectroscopy, and their relative locations and distributio
ns within tissue specimens were characterized by three-dimensional (3D
) spectral maps.
