Mi. Ponzi et al., PARTIAL OXIDATION FROM TOLUENE TO BENZALD EHYDE - OXIDANT ACTIVITY AND ACIDITY OF PHOSPHORUS-BASED CATALYSTS, Anales de la Asociacion Quimica Argentina, 85(3-4), 1997, pp. 173-178
Vapor-oxidation of toluene to benzaldehyde was studied using catalysti
s based on phosphorus and a transition element connected to their base
acid properties. The surface acidity of these solids was determined u
sing the decomposition reaction of isopropylic alcohol and of cumene c
racking. According to the results, low superficial acidity is required
to obtain partial oxidation products. The best results are obtained w
ith P-Cu, for wich propylene formation rate is the lowest.
