M. Potingautier et al., COMPARISON OF SELENIUM EXTRACTION PROCEDURES FOR ITS SPECIATION IN BIOLOGICAL-MATERIALS, International journal of environmental analytical chemistry, 67(1-4), 1997, pp. 15-25
Extraction procedures of selenium compounds applied to solid biologica
l samples (CRM 186: pig kidney, CRM 402: white clover and a selenium e
nriched yeast) are discussed. Enzymic hydrolysis led to high recoverie
s (57% to 92%, depending on the sample). A hyphenated High Performance
Liquid Chromotography-Electrothermal Atomic Absorption Spectrometry t
echnique is used to study the speciation of selenium in the enzymic ex
tracts. Organic compounds: selenomethionine and selenocystine are foun
d as major components in these samples, 39%, 56% and 77% for clover, k
idney and yeast, respectively.
