Pr. Underhill et Mf. Bardon, THE EVALUATION OF ACTIVATION-ENERGIES THROUGH THE HOT PLATE TEST, Propellants, explosives, pyrotechnics, 23(1), 1998, pp. 43-45
The hot plate test is commonly used to determine first order activatio
n energies for energetic material. It is demonstrated that the results
of this test depend significantly on the conductivity of the hot plat
e. Furthermore, it is demonstrated that the interface between the hot
plate and the energetic material also plays a significant role in the
activation energies and ignition temperatures obtained using this meth
od.
