Abstract
The origin of optical non-linear response has been investigated in tit anium and niobium borophosphate glasses and in tellurite glasses. Corr elations between the local structure of polarizable entities within th e glasses and their optical activities have been tentatively establish ed through a semi-empirical model and ab-initio calculations.
