A moroccan clay sample, traditionally used in the pottery, have been t
he subject of a chemico-mineralogical study. For this purpose, the fol
lowing techniques: x-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, different
ial thermal analysis, thermogravimetry and transmission electron micro
scopy, were used. Some chemical analysis were also done. It was found
that the clayey fraction consisted of a mixture of palygorskite and gl
auconite. Quartz and dolomite are the main associated minerals.
