The vacancy migration kinetic was examined in ordered FeAl intermetall
ic compounds containing 49, 50, 52 and 60 at %Fe. The used technique w
as magnetic susceptibility measurements, during isothermal annealing.
The influence of alloy composition induces different activation energi
es which vary fi om 1,22 to 1,47 eV. The identification of these energ
ies with the vacancy migration enthalpy is only a first approximation.
It is consequently necessary to take into account some terms linked t
o the formation of vacancy sinks. These terms must depend on atomic di
sorder therefore on the iron content; this could explain the observed
variations of the activation energies.
