Abstract
A survey of the species composition of soil plants in man-made forests of Cupressus lusitanica revealed an increasing diversity with growing age of the stands reaching nearly the same number of species as in th e natural mountain savannah but surmounting by far that of non-forest abandoned land. Only a portion of the savannah species invaded into th e forest. Most of the species found in the forest, however, were intro duced from moister places like valleys etc.
