B. Doytcheva et al., MASS-TRANSFER FROM A SINGLE GRAIN TO A FLUID IN AN INERT FIXED-BED, International communications in heat and mass transfer, 25(3), 1998, pp. 399-405
Mass transfer from single grain to fluid moving through assemblage of
immobile, identical inert spheres was studied. It is shown that the ef
fective mass transfer rate is strongly dependent on the local bed stru
cture around the irregularly shaped particles. Blending active grains
with smaller inert spheres results in an enhancement of the effective
transport rate. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd.
