Abstract
In this work, a new order-8 dyadic transform (DT) is developed for ima ge compression. Implementation of DT is very simple that it can be com puted using a fast algorithm with operations of addition and binary sh ift only. Various evaluations show that the performance of the new tra nsform is very close to DCT and there is a certain degree of compatibi lity between DCT and DT. (C) 1997 Academic Press.
