Nuclear Reaction Analysis is used to study the interdiffusion of deute
rated and protonated poly(methyl methacrylate). The diffusion process
is found to follow the fast theory predictions and self diffusion is s
een to be governed by pure reptation with no evidence of constraint re
lease. The diffusion coefficients scale with temperature according to
the Williams-Landel-Ferry equation and are in good agreement with valu
es calculated from viscoelastic parameters using the reptation theory;
they are however, about fifty times smaller than other recently publi
shed values for similar molecular weights. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science L
