Abstract
A frequency-domain analytical model is presented for a reverse-flow, t hree-duct, open-end perforated element muffler, starting with the basi c equations of mass continuity, momentum balance and isentropicity. Th e transfer matrix so derived is used in predictions of level differenc e (or the so-called noise reduction) across such a muffler, which are shown to compare quite well with the measured values, for a moving as well as stationary medium.
