Abstract
New cuprates with the 1222 structure, (Ln,Zn)Sr-2(Ln,Ce)(2)Cu2Oz, have been synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and mag netic measurements. The compounds have tetragonal cell with space grou p [4/mmm. The structure of (Ce0.5Zn0.5)Sr-2(Y0.5Gd0.8Ce0.7)Cu2Oz has b een determined by Rietveld refinement and the lattice parameters are n =3.8299(1)Angstrom, c=29.1926(5)Angstrom. The as-prepared materials ar e not superconducting under the present preparation conditions. (C) 19 98 Elsevier Science S.A.
