B. Luan et al., ON THE CHARGE DISCHARGE BEHAVIOR OF TI2NI ELECTRODE IN 6 M KOH AQUEOUS AND DEUTERIUM-OXIDE SOLUTIONS/, Journal of alloys and compounds, 267(1-2), 1998, pp. 224-230
The present work provides a preliminary study of our neutron diffracti
on analysis on the Ti2Ni hydrogen storage alloy electrode. The dischar
ge behavior of Ti2Ni alloy electrodes in 6 M KOH aqueous solution was
observed to be very different from that found in 6 M KOH deuterium oxi
de solution. An a.c. impedance technique was therefore applied to inve
stigate the frequency response during the charge/discharge process of
the electrode in each solution. The impedance spectra obtained reveale
d an apparent variation of reaction resistance of the electrode discha
rged in 6 M KOH+H2O and in 6 M KOH+D2O, indicating a significant varia
tion of electrode charge/discharge kinetics. The present work provides
a further understanding of the charge/discharge kinetics of Ti2Ni ele
ctrode in heavy water thus supplementing the neutron diffraction studi
es of the electrochemical hydrogen storage behavior of Ti2Ni intermeta
llic compound. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science S.A.
