Abstract
The present work provides a preliminary study of our neutron diffracti on analysis on the Ti2Ni hydrogen storage alloy electrode. The dischar ge behavior of Ti2Ni alloy electrodes in 6 M KOH aqueous solution was observed to be very different from that found in 6 M KOH deuterium oxi de solution. An a.c. impedance technique was therefore applied to inve stigate the frequency response during the charge/discharge process of the electrode in each solution. The impedance spectra obtained reveale d an apparent variation of reaction resistance of the electrode discha rged in 6 M KOH+H2O and in 6 M KOH+D2O, indicating a significant varia tion of electrode charge/discharge kinetics. The present work provides a further understanding of the charge/discharge kinetics of Ti2Ni ele ctrode in heavy water thus supplementing the neutron diffraction studi es of the electrochemical hydrogen storage behavior of Ti2Ni intermeta llic compound.
