Abstract
On the basis of a preliminary study of the antimycobacterial activity of thiobenzanilides, a group of 3'-fluoro- and 4'-fluorothiobenzanilid es has been synthesized and tested against Mycobacterium tuberculosis, M. kansasii, M. avium and M. fortuitum. The results of this study dem onstrate that electron withdrawing groups increase the activity of thi obenzanilides and fluoro benzothioanilides against atypical strains wh ich is higher then that of INH.
