Jb. Greenberg et N. Sarig, SENSITIVITY OF THE MODE OF COMBUSTION OF PARTIALLY PREMIXED SPRAY FLAMES TO FLOW, TRANSPORT, AND EVAPORATION EFFECTS, Atomization and sprays, 7(2), 1997, pp. 143-159
A model of counter flow, partially premixed, laminar spray combustion
is presented. It has been shown that for this situation a variety of s
ingle, double, or triple homogeneous flame scenarios can arise, accomp
anied by interflame droplet vaporization and/or heterogeneous bunting.
The influence of the strain rate, premixture injection rate, Prandtl
and Schmidt numbers, and vaporization Damkohler number on these two-ph
ase combustion ensemblages is studied in detail. The sensitivity of th
e mode of combustion to the flow, transport, and evaporation parameter
s is indicative of the complexities of the interactions that are pecul
iar to spray combustion.
