Ethylation of toluene with ethanol over NiAPO-5, NiAPO-11, ZnAPO-5 and
ZnAPO-11 was carried out in the vapour phase. The products formed fro
m this reaction were ethyltoluene, diethylether, benzene and styrene.
The effects of temperature, reactant ratio, time on stream and influen
ce of acidity on the conversion and product distribution were discusse
d. Maximum conversion was observed at 350 degrees C, but further incre
ase in temperature decreased the conversion.
