Abstract
Treatment with ClO- of deaerated 0.5-16 M NaOH solutions containing 5 x 10(-3) mol l(-1) Np(OH)(4), or 0.4-16 M NaOH solutions containing 6. 8 x 10(3) mol l(-1) Pu(OH)4, results in accumulation of hexavalent nep tunium and plutonium in solution and in the precipitate. The rates of all the stages tend to increase with increasing concentrations of alka li and oxidizing agent and with temperature. Possible mechanisms of th e processess are considered.
