Abstract
Rodlike organometallic liquid crystals of gamma - substituted beta - d iketonate dicarbonyl rhodium(I) complexes containing one or two benzen e rings were synthesized and characterized. The effects of rigid cores , structure and the ratio of molecular length to width on the liquid c rystalline properties were also studied. The results show that the mod el design of nematic organic liquid crystal can also direct the molecu lar design and synthesis of organometallic liquid crystals.
