Abstract
The Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) provides funding to support agricultural and natural resource manageme nt research in developing countries, prioritising research which is pr edicted to bring benefits to target countries and Australia. The commo dity-based, multi-regional research process model which is utilised to assess benefits and prioritise potential projects is outlined and dis cussed, together with the impact of forages on specific commodities. R egionally, ACIAR commits >50% of its funding towards research for sout h-east Asia, with the remainder being directed towards south Asia, Chi na, the south Pacific region and Africa. Priorities for future pasture research are outlined together with some specific challenges in the r egion.
