Abstract
Recent data suggest that fever may be initiated by products of liver m acrophages that activate subdiaphragmatic vagal afferents. In the brai n, these inputs may be transmitted to fever-producing sites via noradr energic pathways; prostaglandin E-2 may be the ultimate pyrogenic medi ator.
