Abstract
Total annual costs of simple rectification, liquid extraction with rec tification, azeotropic rectification, and extractive rectification wit h reference to the separation of a mixture of acetic acid and water ar e compared. The process design, cost estimation, and the optimization of these processes were carried out using an ASPEN PLUS simulation sof tware package.
