IN-VIVO GROWTH-INHIBITION OF LEUKEMIA P388 BY METALLOTHIONEIN-I ANTISENSE OLIGODEOXYRIBONUCLEOTIDE

The effect of MT-I antisense oligodeoxyribonucleotide (ODN) for tumor growth was studied using mice transplanted with leukemia P388 (P388), based on the data that MT-I antisense ODN inhibited MT expression of t umor cells in in vitro culture system and suppressed their growth. The treatment with MT-I antisense ODN after s.c. injection of P388 into m ice caused a significant reduction of tumor weight, compared to that w ith control ODN. This result suggests that MT-I antisense ODN is an ef fective growth inhibitor of P388 cells in vivo. MT-I antisense ODN may provide good assistance to chemotherapeutic strategy.
