INELASTIC PHOTOPRODUCTION OF POLARIZED J PSI

We study the polar and azimuthal decay angular distribution of J/psi m esons in photoproduction experiments as functions of the inelasticity variable z and transverse momentum p(t). Future measurements of decay angular distributions at the DESY ep collider HERA will provide a new test of theoretical approaches to factorization between perturbation t heory and quarkonium bound-state dynamics and shed light on the color- octet production fraction in various regions of z and p(t).
