This study examined the associations between Vietnam veterans' levels
of war-related symptoms of arousal and avoidance and their spouses' pe
rceptions of their current family cohesion, adaptability, communicatio
n, and parental and marital satisfaction, using veterans' and their sp
ouses' self-reports. The results indicate significant associations bet
ween the psychological impact of war service and spouses' perceptions
of their family functioning and satisfaction.
