Abstract
Eutrophication as well as the removal of algae by the drinking water i ndustry received dedicated attention in past three decades. An interdi sciplinary approach will assist catchment and water purification manag ers to work to the same future - algal blooms in reservoirs dominated by the ''ideal algae'' which can be removed by conventional unit treat ment processes. This paper will provide a futuristic picture of resour ce and product quality management, based on a historic perspective of eutrophication and algal removal research. (C) 1998 IAWQ.
