Abstract
The nucleophilic S(N)2' bridge opening of diepoxytetrahydroanthracenes with organolithium reagents to produce hydroanthracene derivatives sh ows a dependence of the excess of reagent as well as the relative ster eochemistry of the oxygen bridge.
