Abstract
Entanglement is essential for quantum computation. However, disentangl ement is also necessary. It can be achieved without the need of classi cal operations (measurements). Two examples are analysed: the discrete Fourier transform and error-correcting codes. (C) 1998 Academic Press Limited.
