Ay. Bilibin et al., SYNTHONS AS BUILDING-BLOCKS IN THE SYNTHESIS OF LIQUID-CRYSTALLINE MULTIBLOCK COPOLYMERS, Macromolecular symposia, 128, 1998, pp. 131-143
Synthetic approaches which allow to insert rather long fragments with
exactly definite sequence of several single structural units into poly
mer chains are considered and summarized. The procedure consists in pr
eliminary formation of such sequences in a form of bifunctional ''comp
lex monomer'' (synthons) which may undergo a polycondensation with oth
er single or complex monomer to form macromolecule with definite alter
nation of several single monomers. These synthetic approaches were use
d for the synthesis of LC multi-block copolymers with definite structu
re of rigid block.
