Abstract
Heterochromatin is known to have contributed greatly in the karyotype variability of Drosophila kikkawai. Two types of IV chromosome, large acrocentric and medium metacentric, have been encountered in the India n populations of this species. The frequency of different karyotypes w ith respect to the IV chromosome was analysed in four Indian populatio ns.
