Abstract
A parabolic model to estimate the ternary thermodynamic properties fro m the corresponding binary data is introduced. This model can be class ified as a basic model belonging to the symmetric category. The model is applied to Cu - Mg - Ni and Pb - Cd - Sn ternary systems and discus sed. Weighted parabolic model is an extension of parabolic model which gives improved estimates and is comparable to the thermochemical mode l.
