Abstract
A simple predictive model is presented here to describe the layer inve rsion behaviour of binary solid-liquid fluidized beds. The model is ba sed on the assumption that the concentrations of the two particle spec ies in the binary bed when normalized with respect to their mono-compo nent counterparts are linearly related. The comparison of the model pr edictions with the experimental data available in the literature confi rms the applicability of this simple model to predict the inversion ph enomenon. (C) 1998 SCI.
