A sodium magnesium calcium hydrogen monophosphate Na3Mg1-x CaxH(PO4)(2
), yH(2)O; x = 0.05 and x = 0.20 was synthesized and characterized by
various physical techniques. Its morphology depends on the synthesis t
emperature and on the evaporation rate. Samples were characterized by
X-ray diffraction, and analyzed by IR and Raman vibrational spectrosco
py and impedance spectroscopy techniques. The effect of partial substi
tution of calcium for magnesium on the electrical conduction has subse
quently been undertaken. It shows an unusual high conductivity and dec
reased activation energy corresponding to the mobility of H3O+ ions of
the hydration water.
