Abstract
Sexual addiction has received increasing attention in the past decade. We review existing literature on (a) competing conceptualizations of this syndrome as constituting an addictive, obsessive-compulsive, or i mpulse control disorder; (b) symptomatology and progression; (c) etiol ogical models; and (d) treatment approaches. Based on this review we c onclude by identifying questions requiring resolution via empirical in vestigation. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science Ltd.
